It began with a single workshop in the south.
Jagath Perera founded Bata Palali in 2002 with a simple belief: that thoughtfully made palali could transform how Sri Lankans experience light, privacy, and the outdoors.
What started as a small operation with two weavers has grown into a trusted name for architects, hoteliers, and families who value quality and authenticity. Every palali still carries the mark of human hands - from the careful selection of mature bata to the final finishing coat.
